Mixing Boston since 2019
Exploring The Art & Science of Mixology
We make it our mission to create a space where friends connect, ideas take shape, and every hour spent with us is happy hour.
Settled in the 1630s, Boston has long held a prominent place in America’s history. It is thought of as a city of academics, cultured, and liberal. All interesting stuff, but still a puritanical undercurrent, right? Not so fast, did you know that the Boston Tea Party started with a kegger? The Sons of Liberty had some liquid courage from a punch bowl before heading to the wharf to toss tea into the harbor. And that is just the beginning. From revolutionary camaraderie and ale at the old taverns, to the saloons at the turn of the last century, to prohibition in the 1920s (do yourself a favor and learn how Joe Kennedy made a tidy sum that funded future political campaigns), Boston has always walked a fine line between restrained puritanism and a revolutionary zeal. Where else can you have an official city drink, the Ward 8, based in politics, but a ban on Happy Hour? Nowhere but Boston. That is part of why we love this great city. Just when you think you understand it, something unexpected turns up. Kind of like Boston on the Rocks, where we make it our mission to create a space where friends connect, ideas take shape, and every hour spent with us is happy hour.
